Melissa Roemer

Hi my name is Melissa. I am married to my best friend and we have an amazing, brilliant, sassy 4 year old and a beautiful newborn. Our uncommon adventure began when we first got married seven years ago. Since then, I think every choice that we’ve made in our life pretty much makes us not normal.

Every time we told people we didn’t want to go into debt they looked at us like we were giant weirdos.  Whenever we told people that we weren’t ready to buy a house because we were saving up for a down payment, they looked at us like we were dumb and some told us that we were being stupid.  The reality is that all the choices we’ve made have been made in order to provide an uncommon life for our family.

Living uncommon isn’t about restricting things. Living uncommon is not about saving money and stuffing things away for the future and never enjoying life. Living uncommon is a  lifestyle that allows you freedom from insecurity and freedom from the norms that society forces upon us. Living uncommon allows us to use the resources at our fingertips and put them into play in our daily lives so that we can enjoy our lives more. Living uncommon is about being true to yourself. We live uncommon by eating food out of our garden instead of buying vegetables at the grocery store. By canning food so that it lasts all season. We live uncommon by having plants inside our home (which I have named).

We live uncommon by believing what we say and do is a direct reflection of our character. And by truly believing that the choices we make all come back to faith, life, and love. And by knowing that the choices we make impact one of those facets in an exponential way. We’ve learned through seasons of waiting, trial, and despair that no matter what, if you choose to follow life, love, and faith, you will be blessed beyond your wildest beliefs and can become a blessing to others. You can start your journey today! All you have to do is live uncommon.
