It’s launch day!
I’m so glad you are here to celebrate this day with us!
When Steve and I started talking about creating a website and blog over a year ago, it looked very different. To be honest, I’m not even sure how the idea came about. I’m not sure if anyone else is like us, but we come up with about ten thousand business ideas in the average day. It’s not intentional, we just see holes that could easily be filled by a product or service.
When Covid hit, and we ended up stuck at home, we realized that we had knowledge that most people didn’t. We renovated our house, I started baking more, Steve studied marketing and when we told people what we were working on, they were astonished. It seemed that the more we became “us” the less we became like the world around us.
I’m amazed at how God has worked in us over the last year. We’ve learned a lot about trust and stewardship in ways we didn’t expect. When we started talking about beginning this, we had a completely different idea of what direction it would go in. For one, I didn’t want to become another cliche, and I didn’t want to include too much faith in my posts. Not because my faith isn’t important, but because I didn’t want anyone to feel excluded from the content we were creating. Over time I realized that the lessons Steve and I have learned in life all circle back to our faith.
We reframed the blog, and started over.
I can’t fix your life. I can’t even fix my own life. But what I can do, is show you what I’ve learned over the last 30 years, and hope that God somehow uses my mistakes and short comings to help you. Mostly what I want is to see my friends and loved ones thrive. This world has enough struggle, pain and issues on it’s own, and if I can help one person realize that they can have something better, then all of it will be worth it.
Finally, here we are, launch day. This day we’ve been dreaming of for so long is finally here. And to be honest with you all, I’m terrified. Being vulnerable and sharing my thoughts with you, scares the life out of me. What if I say something wrong? What if you all think I’m an idiot and my ideas to help you end up failing?
Well, I guess I’d rather try and completely fail, than never try at all.
In honor of launch day, and in part to remind myself, I present to you
4 THINGS TO REMEMBER AS YOU FACE FEAR.
1. Remember where you came from. If we hadn’t seen all the things we’ve seen over the last 8 years, we wouldn’t have anything to write about.
2. Remember who you came from. It’s not just about making our families proud. It’s about remembering that we come from a God who has given us gifts and talents which He intended for us to share.
3. Remember who the enemy is. The devil loves to make us afraid doesn’t he? But here’s the thing, if I know why I’m afraid then I don’t have to be afraid.
4. Remember the enemy attacks the hardest when you are about to have a breakthrough. One my of favorite lessons learned, that when we are closest to breaking through, satan works his hardest to push us back.
When I remember those things, the important things, I’m no longer afraid. And that is why we are here at launch day. Whatever you are afraid of, lean in and listen, because you are in for a wild ride.
Happy trails everyone, and welcome to The Uncommon Adventure.
Love, Melissa
So proud of you Melissa and Steve! Praying for this new adventure and all those who will hear your story!
